ITINERARY SUGGESTIONS

An Active Morning Uptown

Cafe Malou - Magazine Street Shopping - Auburn Park or Zoo

Start your morning off slow enjoying breakfast at this excellent French inspired Cafe. You'll meander to the adjoining Octavia Bookstore and then explore Magazine Street and Audubon Park, The Zoo or Tulane University from here. An uber or bike ride might be necessary during certain parts of the journey.

Audubon Park

Whether it's the Zoo, a Game of Golf, a Leisurely Stroll or a Bike Ride, Auburn Park has something for everyone. Just make sure to go early and bring your water!

You can arrive by River Boat, Street Car or Uber.

The National World War II Museum

For the history buff and those wanting to escape the heat! The hours fly by at this excellently curated museum, which features the European and Pacific theaters. You may want to plan your visit in advance, as there is so much to see! We highly recommend participating in the dog tag tracking experience to gain personal insight into the life of a real soldier. Take a break and get a bite to eat at The American Sector Restaurant - It's fabulous!

The French Quarter, French Market & The Aquarium

Explore the Historic French Quarter, Jackson Square, and Famous Royal Street. Start off with Coffee and Beignets at at the historic Cafe DuMonde. Take a stop in the Cabildo for a little history, or have a refresher in the Carousel Bar in the Hotel Montelone, or even book a fun 45-minute Interactive Jazz Session at Preservation Hall! There are many fabulous restaurants here. Check out Nola Eater or our restaurant suggestions for some of the classics!

Shopping on Magazine Street

Meander up and down Magazine Street for wonderful, unique, local, and national shops and restaurants. Be sure to check out Magazine Merchants or the Scout Guide in your welcome box to plan out a few spots that might pique your interest. We don't recommend walking it entirely. Some spots are a little sparse, so you may want to take an Uber for a 3-minute ride to your next destination on Magazine.

Restaurants in this area are plentiful!

Street Cars, Creole Castles & Camellia Grill

Hop on the streetcar on Canal Street to venture to beautiful uptown New Orleans. You'll ride past the beautiful homes that grace St. Charles Avenue. Hop off, take a stop, and visit Audubon Park, Auburn Zoo, or Tulane University. You can Uber or walk to one of the many fabulous restaurants on Magazine Street, or hop back on the trolley and head to Camellia Grill. There is a wide range of things to explore. Make sure to pack your water bottles and your walking shoes! It can get mighty hot out there!

City Park, NOMA & The Botanical Gardens

Take the Canal Street Car to visit City Park, the New Orleans Museum of Art, or the Botanical Gardens. Take a ride on a swan paddle boat or the miniature train that brings you through the park. For the young at heart, ride the oldest Flying Horses in America when visiting the Carousel Amusement Park, and be sure to stop in at Story Land right next door. It's where some of Kate's best family memories were created! A great lunch place in this area is Parkway Tavern or Ralph's on the Park.
